Privacy policy
What we collect, why we collect it, who sees it, and how to tell us to stop.
Last updated 2026
1. Who this covers
This policy describes how Matador Funding, a division of Matador Lending LLC and its affiliates collect, use, disclose and protect information collected through this website, our forms, and our communications with you. Because our loans are business purpose credit, most applicants are business entities rather than consumers, but individual guarantors, principals and site visitors are individuals, and we treat their information accordingly.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Contact details: name, business name, email, telephone number, mailing address.
- Transaction information, property address and characteristics, purchase price or value, budgets, rent rolls, operating statements, existing debt, business plan and intended exit.
- Sponsor information, entity details, ownership, experience and track record, self-reported credit band, liquidity and net worth ranges, and, where a transaction proceeds, financial statements, tax returns, bank statements, identification documents and consent to obtain credit and background reports.
- Correspondence: the content of emails, messages, form submissions and, where recorded, telephone calls.
Please do not send Social Security numbers, taxpayer identification numbers, account numbers or images of identification documents through the forms on this website. When that information is required, we will provide a secure method for delivering it.
Information collected automatically
- IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed and time on page.
- Marketing attribution parameters (such as UTM tags) present in the link you arrived on.
- Cookies and similar technologies, as described in section 6.
Information from others
- Credit reporting agencies, background and fraud-prevention databases, and business information services, obtained with your authorization when a transaction proceeds.
- Appraisers, title companies, insurance agents, escrow and settlement agents, and your own brokers and advisors.
- Public records, including property, entity, lien and litigation records.
3. Why we use it
- To evaluate, underwrite, structure, price, document, close and service financing requests.
- To place a brokered transaction with prospective lenders and to respond to their diligence.
- To communicate with you about your request, including by phone, email and text.
- To comply with legal and regulatory obligations, including anti-money-laundering, sanctions screening, fraud prevention, and record retention requirements.
- To improve the website and our services, and to measure marketing performance.
- To send you information about our programs, where you have not opted out.
4. Who we share it with
We share information only as needed to do the work you have asked us to do, or as required by law. That includes:
- Prospective and actual lenders, participants and investors in your transaction. This is the core purpose of a brokered submission.
- Service providers, appraisers and valuation vendors, title and escrow companies, insurance agents, inspectors, attorneys, servicers, credit and background vendors, and the technology providers that host our website, email, CRM and document systems.
- Affiliates within the Matador group, for the purposes described in this policy.
- Referral sources: where a broker, agent or advisor introduced you, we confirm the status of the transaction they referred.
- Regulators, law enforcement and courts, where required by law, subpoena or a legitimate governmental request.
- A successor, in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition or sale of assets.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
5. How long we keep it
We retain transaction records for as long as necessary to service the relationship and to satisfy legal, regulatory, tax, audit and record-retention obligations, which for lending records is generally several years after the loan is paid off or the file is closed. Marketing contact details are retained until you ask us to remove them.
6. Cookies and analytics
This website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember your preferences, and understand aggregate traffic patterns. Where analytics are enabled, they are configured to measure site performance rather than to track individuals across the web. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some parts of the site may not function normally if you do. We honour Global Privacy Control signals where applicable law requires it.
7. Your choices and rights
You may at any time:
- Ask us what information we hold about you, and ask for a copy of it.
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate.
- Ask us to delete information, subject to the records we are legally required to keep.
- Opt out of marketing email by using the unsubscribe link, and of text messages by replying STOP.
- Ask us to limit the use of sensitive information, where applicable law provides that right.
Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Virginia and other states with comprehensive privacy statutes have specific rights under those laws, including rights of access, correction, deletion, portability and appeal, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. To exercise any right, write to hello@matadorfunding.com with the subject line “Privacy request.” We will verify your identity before responding, and we will respond within the period required by applicable law. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our response.
8. Financial privacy
Where a transaction involves an individual obtaining financial products or services primarily for personal, family or household purposes, the federal Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act privacy rules apply and a separate privacy notice is provided. Our business purpose lending is generally outside that framework, but we apply comparable safeguards to the nonpublic personal information of guarantors and principals as a matter of practice.
9. Security
We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we hold, including access controls, encryption in transit, and vendor diligence. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Email is not a secure channel; do not send sensitive documents by unencrypted email, and treat any emailed change of wire instructions as fraudulent until verified by telephone at a number you already have.
10. Children
This website is directed to businesses and real estate professionals. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
11. Third-party links
This site links to other websites, including those of affiliates and lenders. We do not control those sites and this policy does not apply to them. Read their policies before providing information.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision, and material changes will be highlighted on this page.
